Grocery Shopping With Babies

I don't know about you, but I try to avoid going to the grocery store with the kids at all costs. Honestly, I try to avoid all stores, no matter what I need, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

So I've put together a list of tips and tricks to use when you have to venture out with the babies.

1. Make sure you choose a time where the kids the happiest. After nap is our best time. Babies are rested and ready to go!
2. Wear comfortable shoes. When I get inside those doors it's on. I have about 30 minutes before all hell breaks loose and I have things to get done! So make sure you are comfortable.

3. Bring snacks and forms of distraction. Raegan likes to grab a few yogurt pouches and down them while we do our shopping. Have at it girlfriend. If all else fails, I'll whip out Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. It always does the trick.
4. Use a Binxy Baby. Before you even fill up the cart with grocery items, you're taking up a ton of room with the babies. Either put your toddler in the front seat or get one of those big carts. Raegan loves those! They even fit the bigger carts like you find at Costco or Sam's as long as you put it at the front of the cart.

Then the Binxy Baby goes over the cart and voila! All your groceries can fit under the baby. What I love about the Binxy Baby is you can lay baby in it (up to 6 months or when baby is sitting up on their own) or you can put the carseat in it too. It holds up to 50 pounds. Just in case baby fell asleep on the way to the grocery store.

5. Give yourself grace. Meltdowns happen and if they do, power walk through the store to get the essentials, leave the rest for later, and head to the toy aisle. More often than not sometimes the toddler just needs to get out and get some energy out.

In the end, you braved the grocery store and that is a mama win in my book any day.

Anniversary Weekend

When we closed on our house our realtor gave us an amazing housewarming gift. A gift card to the Marriott hotel and a local steakhouse. She knew we were living with my parents while we renovated and said we would be needing a staycation. She was right! We decided to save it for our anniversary. It was such a fun night and we had so much fun!

We got to our hotel around 4pm and decided to go out for drinks before dinner at 7pm.
Afterwards we headed to dinner at Bobs steakhouse. The food was delish. So much that I forgot to take a picture while we were there.

We headed back to the hotel and spent our night watching Netflix in bed. Don't judge. You know you are jealous. It was glorious and we were asleep by 9:30.

The next morning continued the Netflix binge.
We stayed in bed all morning, enjoyed breakfast in bed, and exchanged gifts.

I got Kyle this amazing watch. It's from JORD watches. It's made out of wood and he absolutely loved it! I wish I had known about this company for our 5th anniversary since traditionally that the "wood gift" anniversary, but hey, it worked for our 7th anniversary too.

We finally pulled ourselves out of bed and got ready for the day.

We headed to our house to check out the progress and they have been busy! Can't wait to share our house reno updates on the blog soon.

Then we went to lunch at a local pizza place that we both love!
We definitely enjoyed our time together, but were excited to get back home to snuggle our babies. Even after 11 years I wouldn't want to be spending life with anyone, but this guy right here. He's my perfect match.

Want to chance to win $75 to JORD watches? Enter the link below! Contest ends 10.30.

Every entry earns a $20 off a JORD watch so don't wait!

Hudson Update (5 and 6 months)

I hate that this poor little blog has been neglected so much lately, but 2 kids has been keeping me busy! Especially when one of them likes to wake up before 6am. Yawn!

So last update on Hudson was at 4 months. He's actually 7 months now, but haven't taken our 7 month picture yet. Story of my life.

So much has changed with our little guy!

Stats:
weight: 18 pounds
height: 27.5 inches
head: 90% percentile

He's sitting up, has 2 teeth, is eating solids and so much more!

Sleep
Let's just say Hudson and I party all night long. Since we are living with my parents it's hard to let him cry when he wakes so I go to him most of the time. Well that has created some terrible habits. So it is time to get this guy sleeping longer stretches (more than 2 hours) and it's happening this weekend. Mama needs sleep!

Eat
Hudson still loves to nurse, but is starting to eat solids too! He's been eating some purees and solids too. His favorites are bananas, avocado, sweet potatoes and squash. The only downside of starting solids is he's getting constipated more. So prunes have been added to his diet. He will eat them straight which is great! It's so nice having a baby who eats. With Rae she didn't start solids until 10 months and even then she was eating purees.

Play
He is sitting up now which opens up so much more play time. He is on the verge of crawling (please wait a little longer) so he moves all over his play mat. He has his favorite toys and doesn't like it when sister takes them from him.

Extras
He has figured out that mama can walk away and leave the room and he doesn't like it. He also has started reaching for me when someone is holding him. Ok baby boy you're melting my heart! He will also grab my face and give me the best open mouth kisses. Just the best.

The relationship between mothers and sons and mothers and daughters is so different and so special.

Rae is my independent helper who loves doing these on her own.

While Hudson wants to just be a mama's boy all day long and is perfectly content loving on me all day and all night.

And now it's time for the monthly photo dump. I just can't get enough of my kiddos which is apparent by the amount of pictures on my phone.

Months 1-6

I'll be posting a house reno update soon! So much has happened and I'm starting to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hoping to be in by Christmas.
