Hudson {8 months}

Well Hudson turns 9 months tomorrow, so no better time to post his 8 month update right?

Stats
weight: 20 pounds

Sleep
He's still up 2-3 times a night. We are struggling with him peeing out of diaper. I've tried using overnights. I've tried sizing up in the overnights. Nothing works! If I don't change him at least once during the night he will wake up soaked. It's such a pain. I'm hoping we can find a solution soon! He's still nursing at night. I've accepted it. I know it's hard getting up in the middle of the night, but it won't last forever. He loves to nurse. I love to nurse him. If he could just throw me a bone and sleep past 6am then we'd be good!

Eat
He loves food. Bottom line. He will eat anything I give him, which shows in his 2 pound gain in 2 months. He's 6 pounds shy of Raegan. It makes me laugh what a chunker  he is. The upside to him eating everything is I can just tell Raegan "Bubba's going to eat your food". She's still struggling with eating a ton and that will normally get her to eat. So that's a nice incentive. He's still nursing throughout the day and at night too.

Play
He's crawling and standing! Granted he doesn't crawl much, but he will if he needs to get to mama or to take a toy from sister. Tonight Kyle and I witnessed our first fight over a toy. Raegan took his toy and he made the saddest little face and cried and cried. Normally he just finds another toy, but this time he put up a fuss. Sister better watch out. He's going to be bigger than her pretty darn soon!

Extras
He's all about mama lately. It makes for very tiring days. He's only happy if he's being held and that is hard. If I can get him playing happily I have to stay out of the room because as soon as I walk in the tears begin and he just wants to be held.

He also had his first sickness this month. His first ear infection. Him and Rae have been passing a cold back and forth for about 4-5 weeks. He's been miserable. He also was teething too. So he was just a mess, but he just wasn't getting better. I took him in a few weeks before Thanksgiving and she said it was just a cold and teething, but then 2 weeks later he still had it. Mama's intuition said to take him in again. Mama was right. Ear infection. Poor guy.

We also found these adorable milestone cards to help document all the fun and adorable things that he's doing these days because let's be honest, when they are little they are mastering new things every day! I love being able to celebrate those milestones and look back on these adorable pictures and moments that made us smile.

They also include free printables on their site too! You better believe we will be printing off the "my first Christmas card".

Alright, time for the photo dump. Can't believe how much this sweet boy has grown in 8 (almost 9) short months! Time flies. Way too fast.

Baby Sickness

About a month ago Hudson got his first real sickness. Not like a cold, but the first real "oh my gosh, do I need to take him to the ER?" sickness.

About 10:30pm he woke up screaming. It jolted me out of sleep. I ran in and he had thrown up. Everywhere. He's spit up before, but not like this. I had to change him, the sheets, his sleep sack. It was just a mess.

While I was changing him he started throwing up again. He did this 5 times in about 30 minutes. I started getting really worried.

I held him and rocked him. He would fall asleep, but then get woken up when he'd throw up. It was the saddest thing ever.

I ended up calling our nurses after hours line and they told me as long as he didn't have a high fever, he was taking fluids, and didn't throw up 10 times in an hour, I just had to let it run it's course.

So that's what we did. He finally started nursing again around midnight and fell asleep soon after. I was too nervous to leave him in his room so I grabbed his dockatot that he loves sitting in and playing during the day and brought him into bed with us. Kyle doesn't like to cosleep so having the dockatot is perfect for nights when the baby gets sick. He can have his own space and we have ours. It's 100% cotton and breathable. I can't tell you how many times I've found him cuddled up next to the bumper. He was within arms length for me to comfort if he needed it. I could check on him without having to get up and pull him over to me when he needed to nurse and right back to the dockatot when he was done. We own both sizes deluxe (newborn-8 months) and grande (9-36 months). They are made in Europe and I for one am glad that they came to the U.S. because this mama loves them.

By morning he was back to his normal self and ready to play.
I am thankful that baby's recover so quickly, but goodness, I'm hoping it doesn't happen again anytime soon.

Hudson Update (5 and 6 months)

I hate that this poor little blog has been neglected so much lately, but 2 kids has been keeping me busy! Especially when one of them likes to wake up before 6am. Yawn!

So last update on Hudson was at 4 months. He's actually 7 months now, but haven't taken our 7 month picture yet. Story of my life.

So much has changed with our little guy!

Stats:
weight: 18 pounds
height: 27.5 inches
head: 90% percentile

He's sitting up, has 2 teeth, is eating solids and so much more!

Sleep
Let's just say Hudson and I party all night long. Since we are living with my parents it's hard to let him cry when he wakes so I go to him most of the time. Well that has created some terrible habits. So it is time to get this guy sleeping longer stretches (more than 2 hours) and it's happening this weekend. Mama needs sleep!

Eat
Hudson still loves to nurse, but is starting to eat solids too! He's been eating some purees and solids too. His favorites are bananas, avocado, sweet potatoes and squash. The only downside of starting solids is he's getting constipated more. So prunes have been added to his diet. He will eat them straight which is great! It's so nice having a baby who eats. With Rae she didn't start solids until 10 months and even then she was eating purees.

Play
He is sitting up now which opens up so much more play time. He is on the verge of crawling (please wait a little longer) so he moves all over his play mat. He has his favorite toys and doesn't like it when sister takes them from him.

Extras
He has figured out that mama can walk away and leave the room and he doesn't like it. He also has started reaching for me when someone is holding him. Ok baby boy you're melting my heart! He will also grab my face and give me the best open mouth kisses. Just the best.

The relationship between mothers and sons and mothers and daughters is so different and so special.

Rae is my independent helper who loves doing these on her own.

While Hudson wants to just be a mama's boy all day long and is perfectly content loving on me all day and all night.

And now it's time for the monthly photo dump. I just can't get enough of my kiddos which is apparent by the amount of pictures on my phone.

Months 1-6

I'll be posting a house reno update soon! So much has happened and I'm starting to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hoping to be in by Christmas.

Hudson Kyle {3 and 4 months}

Wow. Months 3 and 4 have flown by! So fast that I forgot to post his monthly updates. Oops! Better late than never!

Can't believe how big our sweet boy is getting.

I looked back at his 2 month post and it looks like I wrote the same thing. Time is flying and he's getting so big. And he is!

Sleep
3 months- In the past week he's decided that sleep at night is overrated and he'd rather be eating every hour. Phew! I'm hoping it's just a phase. Unfortunately the 4 month sleep regression is right around the corner. I'm hoping it's not too hard on us!

4 months- oh goodness sleep has been TOUGH! We had to start sleep training because he was waking up every 1-2 hours and taking forever to go down for naps. I am happy to report that he is putting himself to sleep for naps and bed! Middle of the night wake ups have still been hard, but this past week he's gone down to 3 wake ups, which has been a breath of fresh air since it's normally been 5-6 times.

Eat
3 months- He is still eating all day long! Like every 2 hours. He has started the "snacking" schedule and it's tough! He wants to eat a little bit and does it every couple hours. He still isn't taking a bottle and I'm getting nervous about our trip to Jamaica because we are going. We need this vacation.

4 months- HE IS TAKING A BOTTLE! HALLELUJAH! This is such a good thing! Granted he still only wants to take a full bottle from me, but at least he's taking a bottle. We tried at least 10 bottles and we came back full circle to the Dr. Brown bottles which we started with.

Play
3 and 4 months- He is such a happy baby. He smiles and giggles when you blow on his tummy and he's perfectly content with sitting on his boppy pillow and watching his sister play. He's holding up his head more and is starting to sit in his bouncer for small amounts of time. He is rolling over now too!

Extras
4 months- Hudson took his first trip to our family reunion. The results are in. He still hates the car. He also had his 1st hospital stay besides being born. It was just a day surgery and after Raegan's surgery we were prepared for it. It didn't seem as stressful as hers was. Even though handing him over was still incredibly hard.

Ready for the photo dump? Ok here we go!
