Lip Sense

So I was approached by a follower of mine about trying out Lip Sense and I will be honest with you, I really wasn't interested. I'm really not a huge fan of the businesses where the sellers just bug and bug and bug you to buy their product. Seems that most businesses where the seller works off commission are that way. It can be such a turn off! Well first off, Robyn never bugged me. Huge plus! She sent her email and waited for me to contact her.

Second off I wasn't interested because honestly I don't care about lipstick. It's a miracle if I have time to put anything on in the morning and if I do it's going to be a very neutral color because the rest of my face is bare and having a bright lip just wouldn't make sense.

But alas, I gave in and decided to give Lip Sense a try.

Well I'm hooked.

Yep. I love it.

I apply the color in the morning, regloss throughout the day, and it's still there when I go to wash my face at the end of the day. Just put some witch hazel on a cotton ball and rub it right off.

It did take some getting used to as the color doesn't feel like lipstick. It's like a lip stain (called a liquid lip color) and then the gloss on top keeps your lips hydrated and the color covered.

So take a look at some of the colors I got to try out.

Blu-red
Love this color! Every girl needs a good red in her life!

The starter set comes with a color of your choice, a tube of gloss, and a tube of oops! fixer. That's what I call it. So if you accidentally get color where you don't want it (happens with the brighter colors) you just rub on the oops stick, use a q-tip and it comes right off.

Pink Champagne
Great neutral color for those who don't want something over the top.

Aussie Rose
one of my favorites! I will be adding it to my collection for sure!

Lexie Berry
Not a fan of the dark color unless you have formal event to go to. Not an every day color for me.

 Luv It
A great color for summer time! Has more coral/orange in it.

Fire and Ice
I love this red/pink color. Gives your lips that little pop! Also I'm wearing their tinted moisturizer here. LOVE that stuff! It's light and airy and covers blemishes really well. It just gives that smoothed out look.

 First Love
Great neutral, but I wasn't a fan. Too brown for my taste.

Aussie Rose/Sassy Z
This was a mix of Aussie Rose and Sassy Z. Sazzy Z is my go to FAV color! I love that you can mix the colors too. Since it's a stain they mix great!

I also tried out their eye make up line as well.

Here I wore the Sandstone Pearl Shimmer shadow on my lids and a darker shadow (Mocha Java) on my crease. I wasn't as big of a fan of the eye shadow. It felt wet going on until you rubbed it in. Wasn't my thing, but was still very pretty!

In the end I wish I hadn't drug my feet and tried it sooner. As a mom who doesn't have a lot of time to get ready in the morning, having some lip color really does go a long way in making you feel like you put some effort into yourself for the day.

Bath Time

Raegan and Hudson take a bath daily. They are messy toddlers, but we really do bath every day because Mama loves the 30 minute break it gives.
Hallelujah for bath time. They play happily after dinner and before bed and it gives me a chance to clean up the house before Kyle gets home. Lord knows they are both little tornadoes all day long.

The stacking bath boats from Nuby are some of our favorites!
Once baby is old enough to hold them, they'll love them. They can easily be used for rinsing the babies off and Rae and Hudson both love filling them up and dumping them on each other. They stack easily for storage too.
Thank goodness for toys that are simple and easy to store to make bath time fun!

Eyelash Extensions Exposed

As a mom I don't have a lot of time to get ready in the morning. Most mornings I throw my hair up in a top knot, quickly slap on some concealer, powder, mascara, blush, and lip gloss. Most of the time with a toddler hanging on my leg.

Any way I can cut down my get ready time, I'm in! Perfect, beautiful, long eyelashes with no work? Sign me up! Whether you are wanting to fill in what little eyelashes you have or enhance what you already have, this is for you!

What is exactly are eyelash extensions? Eyelash extensions are essentially fake eyelashes glued to each of your own eyelashes. Enhancing what you already have. You want to make sure you choose someone who is trained and have experience. You don't want an ameteur working around your eyes. This is why I went with Amanda from Harper Blvd. Spa. and I couldn't be happier with my decision!

My get ready time has been cut in half. I no longer have to put on eye liner and mascara. I wake up and could totally just walk on the door with no make up if I needed to and feel great. It was totally a confidence booster after getting my eyelash extensions. I felt so glamorous!

So what do you need to know before getting eyelash extensions?
  • find someone reputable (licensed)
  • go by results, not price
  • do your research, ask around
  • know what you want and make sure you voice it at your appointment
  • you can get as many or little extensions as you want (natural vs. glamorous)
Before vs. After
(no eyeliner or mascara)

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take?
A full set of lashes takes about 2 hours. A fill takes 30-45 minutes depending on how long it's been.

Does it hurt?
Not one bit.

How often should I get them filled?
They recommend between 2-3 weeks. After your initial full set you'll just have to see what works best for you! I'm right at 1 week post appointment and mine are still looking great. I plan to go in next week for a fill and then I'll decide if I need every 2 or 3 weeks.

Can I get them on the bottom lashes too?
You sure can, but most client don't.

How much does it cost?
With Amanda her cost is $225, which I've found it the norm around DFW. The fills range from $30-70 depending on how long it's been since your last fill.

Can you do this while pregnant or nursing?
Yep! All work is done externally and nothing enters your blood stream. You just may need to take a break every now and then if you are pregnant. Being on your back that long can be uncomfortable.

How long do they last?
Since you get them filled every 2-3 weeks they last as long as you want! Don't want them anymore? Just don't get them filled. They'll fall out slowly. Do not pull them out as you risk the chance of pulling out your natural eyelash.

What is the upkeep?
For 48 hours after getting a full set or fill, you need to keep them dry. No water. After 48 hours you are free to wash your face like before, just be gentle around your eyes. Also use an eyelash or eyebrow brush to brush them and keep them "untangled".

How do I make an appointment?
Head over to Amanda's website Harper Blvd. Spa to schedule your appointment.

Trying To Conceive

When Kyle and I got married we had a plan. Be married for a couple years, enjoy one another, travel, do whatever the heck we wanted, and then after a couple years, we'd have kids.

Looking back at my very naive self, I wish I could just put my hand on my back, and say "oh honey, if only it were that easy."

For some, it is. It is easy. They get pregnant on their first try or they weren't even trying at all. To those who have, I'm happy for you. No I really am. Because what we went through over the past 4 years is nothing I would wish on anyone.

It's hard. It's full of appointments, shots, invasive procedures, disappointment, loss.

When we started trying we knew we were ready to start a family. Like right then. We didn't want to wait. There was no messing around. I was going to try everything I could to help our chances. I took vitamins, I cut out caffeine, I ate healthy, used ovulation tests, and I even was taking geritol because a teacher at my school recommended it. See, I told you, I tried everything.
Had I known about the Stork OTC, you betcha I would have been trying it too. No doctor appointments, no scans, no prescriptions, no procedures, more cost efficient than fertility treatments. Sign me up!
The Stork OTC is a uniquely designed device that you use at home to increase your chances of becoming pregnant.
It's available at Target in the family planning aisle. Target is even having a promo right now where when you purchase a Stork OTC, you get a $15 Target giftcard. Valid 6/4-6/17.
What an amazing product to try as you begin planning to begin or expand your family.

Motherhood Is

Motherhood.

When I hear the word "motherhood" so many things come to mind.

Motherhood is wonderful, rewarding, trading in high heels for comfortable clothes (i.e. Pinkblush Maternity), full of hugs and kisses, a blessing, a privilege, beautiful, joy, and love.
But on the flip side, motherhood is also exhausting, emotional, challenging, denying yourself, learning to let go, wanting to pull out your hair, wondering if you're making the right decision, and so much more.

But then you see that sweet little face look up at you, grab your knees, and give you the biggest hug in the whole world, right after they through the biggest fit known to man, and you are quickly whisked back to the feelings of "this is worth it."
Even in the middle of all the crazy I have to remind myself that this is good. This crazy life is good.

Learning to trust God in His plan has been rough over the years. First with our first loss in 2013 to our second in 2016. To now being pregnant with our 3rd surprise baby after 2 IVF babies.

Am I nervous about having 3 under 3?

You betcha. Terrified some days. Especially on the hard days when I want to pull my hair out and not being able to imagine adding a newborn to the mix.
But like the saying goes, if God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

You better believe I'll be hanging onto that sweet little bible verse come August when Landon arrives.
These sweet children are the biggest blessing and biggest life accomplishment I've ever done. I am thankful for them and also clinging to the saying "the days are long and the years are short."

Because in the end motherhood is everything and I want to treasure every moment, even the hard ones.
