Bump Update
How far along? 15 weeks
Total weight gain: 3 pounds so far! We will see if it's more at my 16 week appointment on February 4. I have a feeling it's going to be a bit more :)
Maternity clothes?  FULL on maternity clothes now. My bump is so low that my regular shirts are becoming too short! Thank goodness the hubs started budgeting for maternity clothes for each month.
Stretch marks? nope!
Sleep: Sleep is hit or miss. I'm starting to get uncomfortable at night and having to switch sides more often. My arms fall asleep more easily so that wake me up. And of course the constant peeing :)
Best moment this week: One of my friends contacted me about throwing a baby shower! Our first shower is scheduled for the end of May. It's all becoming real!
Miss anything? wine and sushi. I don't think this will ever change.
Food cravings: sweets and fruit.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing makes me sick anymore it just comes on real strong then goes away once I puke :)
Gender: We don't know yet but I am thinking girl. Kyle wants a boy, but from the beginning I've felt girl even though I want a boy. I'll be fine with a girl though :)
Labor signs: nope
Symptoms: constantly peeing, tired, can smell everything, acne, large chest
Belly button in or out?  In! And I don't think it will ever pop. It's the deepest inney ever!
Wedding rings on or off: On.
Happy or moody most of the time: I am happy! I've started feeling baby flutter around in my tummy and I love it!
Looking forward to: Finding out the gender of the baby!

I just can't help it

When we got pregnant in November I didn't realize the emotions I would feel with a pregnancy after a loss. I lost our first baby on July 31, 2013 at about 7pm. I was getting ready to go to dinner with 2 of my dearest friends. I had been cramping since about noon and the cramping continued to get worse as the day went on. I had called my doctor's office and they said it was all normal and to call back if I started bleeding, which didn't start until 7pm. I was alone. Kyle was at work. I immediately called him crying so hard he could barely understood me, but he knew. His response to my cry was "I'm coming."

How could this happen? We had JUST shared the news with all of our family which is about 75 people! Both of our parents are 1 of 4 or 5 siblings so we have TONS of aunts and uncles and cousins. How was I going to handle telling everyone that I had lost the baby? Thankfully I had a cousin on both sides of my family that handled telling everyone and Kyle's parents handled his family.

I texted my RE (yes, he gave me his cell number if I ever needed anything, one more reason I love him) and he said for me to come in the morning for blood work to confirm the miscarriage and if the bleeding got worse to go to the nearest ER. I don't know if I should have ever gone to the ER that night. The pain got worse and so did the bleeding. It just wouldn't stop and every time I went to the restroom it was a constant reminder that my baby was no longer inside me. A miscarriage includes labor. Yes, it's alot shorter and not as intense because your body is not pushing out a full size baby, but it's still the same concept. Your body is pushing out what's inside you. It was very hard for Kyle to watch me lay there, obviously in pain, and he couldn't do anything. He kept asking if we should go to the hospital. I told him I was not going to pay money for them to tell me what I knew was already happening. I finally resorted to a vicodin. I knew what was happening and knew it couldn't hurt the baby that wasn't there anymore. I finally was able to relax and fall asleep.

The next 2 weeks included many blood tests to watch my HCG levels drop. Thankfully it only took about a week and a half for it to reach zero and I only bled for about a week. I had heard stories of women bleeding for 2-6 weeks and I couldn't bare the idea of being reminded of the loss. I was lucky.

This post was supposed to be about being pregnant after a loss, but I've never written about our loss. Maybe that will help me enjoy this pregnancy, because honestly I am scared. So scared that for the first 2-3 weeks of this pregnancy I was CONVINCED I was losing the baby. Thank the Lord that my RE and nurses were so understanding and let me come in many times for blood work and sonograms to make sure baby was doing alright, which it was, every single time.

I am tired of being told not to worry. Especially by people who have never had a loss. They just don't get that I can't help it. My body is reacting to the feelings it's hard before. The cramping I have now from my uterus growing and making room for our sweet angel are the same cramps I felt the night I lost our baby. Spotting I had on the day I lost our baby was the same spotting I had during weeks 6-8.

I try not to let it bother me, but women who have dealt with infertility and loss are very sensitive and I wish every person would understand that. I guess I can't expect that from everyone.

Every week that passes and every time I get to see our baby, I feel better. I pray that I'll eventually be able to enjoy the pregnancy, but for now, I just need people to cut me some slack. Stop telling me "not to worry", but instead tell me " I understand why you're worried. It's ok and I'm here for you".

Praying for peace.

Nursery Inspiration

I know I know, you may be thinking "where is week 14 bump update?" I promise I'll have it up this week, but last night I worked out and did NOT want to do my bump update picture so it'll happen on a night that I look alittle more put together.

I have decided that pinterest is seriously the best thing ever. I don't know how I planned my wedding without it and honestly feel that I should get a redo for my wedding. Ha!

I was reading my friend Stephanie's blog, The Icing On Our Cake, and she shared her nursery inspiration and I thought "what a great idea!" So I am going to do the same!

So for our boy's inspiration we are going with a baseball theme, but not too baseball-y. The bedding will be the colors of the room, navy, red, and grey and then I will accent with baseball memorabilia. Take a look at my pinterest baby boy nursery board. (Click on the picture to be taken to my pinterest board).

For our girl nursery, I have fallen in LOVE with cobalt blue, coral, and gold. It isn't overly girly, but still has the hint of pink. I have a few other ideas pinned on my board, but the coral and gold has hit hard for me and we will definitely be sticking to that color scheme! (Click on the picture to be taken to my pinterest board).

Even if you are not pregnant, but plan on one day having children, what colors are you planning on doing for your nursery?

Our Infertility Journey

I know I've been MIA from the blogging world and I apologize! Some of you even checked in on me and that is so sweet! Baby and I are doing fine and I know I'm SUPER late on my week 12 update, but my computer isn't reading my camera memory card so I'm having to wait for a friend to send me my camera cord that she borrowed. So it's looking like I'm going to have to do week 12, 13, and 14 together! I was super late on week 12's update and tomorrow's is week 13 and my camera cord won't be here for at least a week. Oy vey! So to tied you over till then, here is a picture of our beautiful baby that we got to see on Friday. Look at that little nose! I could just kiss it all day long!
Also, since we started our IVF journey I have been keeping a video diary of our experiences. I got this idea from a friend of mine who also went through IVF. It was her way of sharing their story without crying. Because let's be honest, talking about our experiences and reliving the hell that we have all been through is not something we like to do. So I hope this video gives you some insight into what Kyle and I have been though and also to see our hearts and what we hope God will do through our story.

Thank you again to everyone who checked on me when I didn't post my weekly update :) I promise there will be an update as soon as I get my camera cord!

Pregnancy Announcment

One of the fun parts of being early pregnant is the "facebook" announcement and we had decided we didn't want to announce our pregnant until the first trimester was over. Well I made it to alittle past 11 weeks :) New Year's Day was just a perfect  day to announce that Kyle gave me permission to post a week early :)

In Ashley style, we of course had to get pictures taken. One of my dear friends, Allison Davis, is an AMAZING photographer. She actually was our wedding photographer and over the years she and I have become very good friends. And I am so glad we have! We love our 3 hour dates at The Melting Pot. She has such a sweet, genuine heart and I know she was brought into our lives for a reason! God knew I needed a friend like Allison. So enjoy the pictures and if you are in Dallas and need a photographer, she is your gal! Just tell her I sent you!

look at that handsome devil ;)
